The Second Harvest Culinary Training Program provides qualified, at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults with the culinary and life skills training needed to pursue a sustainable career in the food industry.

Who We Serve

  • Hands-on experience in the production kitchen
  • The life skills for work-readiness, focusing on the importance of appropriate work behaviors, resumes and interviewing techniques, as well as household budgeting, stress relief, and time management
  • Food safety and sanitation, knife skills, and the basic culinary foundations
  • Experience in every aspect of the food service industry, from inventory and cost control, staffing and training, to production in a high-volume kitchen
  • Interview skills through on-site job fairs and mock interview opportunities
  • Job placement assistance program

In addition to helping feed the line of our neighbors who need help, Second Harvest also transforms dozens of lives directly every year. Economically-challenged adults who graduate from our 16-week culinary training program are placed in 'better than minimum wage' jobs that set them and their families on a path to self- sustainability.
